BEIJING, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Russia's Petr Gumennik notched 262.82 points in the men's singles at the ISU Figure Skating Olympic qualifier here on Sunday to clinch a berth at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.
With 26 skaters competing for five Olympic berths in the men's singles, Gumennik dominated in both short program and free skating to rank first, 34.22 points ahead of runner-up Kim Hyung-yeom of South Korea, while Mexico's Donovan Carrillo finished third with 222.36 points.
Ukraine's Kyrylo Marsak and Li Yu-Hsiang of Chinese Taipei took the fourth and fifth place to seize the final Olympic places with 217.57 and 216.98 points respectively.
As the three-day qualifier concluded on Sunday, 17 Olympic berths were decided in the event - five in the men's singles, five in the women's singles, three in the pairs, and four in the ice dance.
After China's Dai Dawei won an Olympic ticket in the men's singles in the World Championships this year, China claimed another three Olympic places in the qualifier - Zhang Jiaxuan and Huang Yihang finished first in the pairs, veterans Wang Shiyue and Liu Xinyu secured the fourth in the ice dance, and 17-year-old Zhang Ruiyang ranked fifth in the women's singles. ■
