Residents of the administrative center Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and the southern city of Vilyuchinsk felt tremors measuring up to six points on the intensity scale.
Many people rushed outdoors despite the early hour to avoid the aftershock, while a tsunami warning was issued along the eastern coast of the peninsula.
