JERUSALEM, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- A drone launched from Yemen struck the entrance courtyard of a hotel in Eilat, a Red Sea resort city in southern Israel, on Thursday evening, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.

Israel's national emergency service, Magen David Adom, reported no casualties from the attack.

Air raid sirens were activated in Eilat at around 6:40 p.m. local time (1540 GMT), prompting residents and tourists to rush to shelters.

Israeli news outlet Ynet said the drone hit the entrance courtyard of the Jacob Hotel, sparking a fire but causing no injuries.

The attack came two days after Israel intercepted a surface-to-surface missile fired from Yemen, shortly after Israeli warplanes struck the Yemeni port city of Hodeidah.

Houthi forces have repeatedly targeted Israel since November 2023, citing support for Palestinians during Israel's war in Gaza. Israel has responded with airstrikes on Houthi-held areas, including Sanaa and the Red Sea port of Hodeidah.
