AMMAN, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Tuesday hosted the first conference and exhibition focused on countering drones, highlighting the latest technologies for detecting and neutralizing unmanned aerial systems and addressing the ethical challenges of their use.
The Counter-UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) Middle East & Africa Conference is supported by the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF), the military said. Ayman Batran, the event's organizer, said the conference comes amid rising threats from unmanned systems both regionally and internationally, emphasizing the need for specialized solutions and responsible technology use.
The event has attracted participants from 41 countries across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and the United States, featuring more than 20 panel discussions with 25 international experts and developers. The opening ceremony was attended by senior JAF officers, government officials, diplomats, military attaches, and security specialists. ■
