PHNOM PENH, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's trade with the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) member countries amounted to 26.35 billion U.S. dollars in the first eight months of 2025, up 15 percent over the same period last year, said an official report on Monday.

The country's export to fellow RCEP member countries was valued at 6.63 billion dollars during the January-August period this year, up 9.5 percent from 6.05 billion dollars over the same period last year, said the report compiled by the Ministry of Commerce.

Meanwhile, the kingdom's imports from the RCEP member countries hit 19.72 billion dollars, up 16.9 percent from 16.87 billion dollars, the report added.

The report indicated that the RCEP is a major market for Cambodia, accounting for 61.5 percent of the kingdom's total trade volume of 42.8 billion dollars during the first eight months this year.

Cambodia's top five trading partners under the RCEP are China, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, and Singapore.

The RCEP comprises 15 Asia-Pacific countries, including 10 ASEAN member states -- Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam -- and their five trading partners, namely China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand.

Cambodian Ministry of Commerce's Secretary of State and Spokesperson Penn Sovicheat said RCEP, the world's largest free trade pact, has played a crucial role in boosting global trade amidst the United States' tariff hikes.

"The RCEP is a catalyst for long-term export growth and a magnet to attract more foreign direct investment to Cambodia," he told Xinhua recently.
