SANAA, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's Houthi group said Monday that it launched four drones at Israel in the past 24 hours, targeting Ramon Airport and a military target in the Negev area.

Yahya Sarea, the group's military spokesman, said three drones targeted Ramon Airport in the port city of Eilat, and the fourth drone targeted a military site in the Negev area. Both sites are located in southern Israel.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said on X on Sunday morning that an "aircraft" had infiltrated southern Israel, triggering air defense sirens. Hours later in the evening, the IDF reported another drone infiltration, adding that a military helicopter was chasing it.

All drones were intercepted without causing casualties or damage, Israeli media reported, citing IDF statements.

The Houthis, who control much of northwestern Yemen, have launched long-range ballistic missiles and drones towards Israel since the start of the war in Gaza in October 2023, saying that their attacks are in support of Palestinians.
