TOKYO, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Temperature continued to surge across Japan, with Nagoya recording 40 degrees Celsius at 2:28 p.m. local time on Sunday amid a heatwave.
This marked the ninth day this year that temperature of 40 degrees Celsius or higher has been observed in Japan.
Authorities warned that the heat has reached life-threatening levels, and urged people to take strict precautions against heatstroke, including using air conditioning appropriately and drinking water and electrolytes frequently. ■
