KABUL, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- A total of 383 development and infrastructure projects have been implemented and put into operation in eastern Afghanistan's Laghman province over the past four years, the state-owned Bakhtar News Agency reported on Saturday.
Among them, 330 projects, valued at 88 million U.S. dollars, were funded by partner organizations, while the remaining projects, worth over 8.4 million dollars, were financed through the domestic budget, Bakhtar quoted Mawlawi Jaan Mohammad Hamid, provincial director of economy, as saying.
According to the official, these initiatives include water dams, road reconstruction, water supply networks, school rehabilitation, power generation systems, retaining walls, solar energy systems and various other projects.
The implementation of these projects has created job opportunities for hundreds of residents and improved living conditions for thousands across the province, Hamid noted.
The Afghan interim government plans to launch additional development, infrastructure, and agricultural projects across the war-ravaged country, aiming to address economic challenges and foster job creation. ■
