ZAGREB, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Croatia welcomed a record 15.5 million tourist arrivals and 79.2 million overnight stays as of Aug. 20, both up 1 percent from the same period last year, Croatian Minister of Tourism and Sports Tonci Glavina said Thursday.

In addition to the record-high figures, Croatia's tourism revenues rose 10.4 percent year-on-year, Glavina noted. He projected that revenues this year are expected to increase by 3.6 percent compared with 2024, reaching a new record of 15.5 billion euros (18 billion U.S. dollars).

Glavina described the situation as "almost ideal" for the Croatian tourism sector.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic also expressed satisfaction with the performance of the sector, a key pillar of the national economy.

"The government and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports continue to develop Croatia as a year-round destination with an emphasis on promoting sustainable tourism," Plenkovic wrote in July on social media platform X.
