WELLINGTON, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand's strong export growth in July 2025 narrowed its trade deficit despite higher imports, the country's overseas merchandise trade showed on Thursday.

Exports to China, New Zealand's largest trading partner, grew 7.1 percent in July 2025 compared to a year earlier, supported by demand for dairy, while trade with the European Union, Japan and the United States also strengthened, according to the statistics department Stats NZ.

New Zealand's goods exports rose 10 percent from a year earlier to 6.7 billion NZ dollars (3.9 billion U.S. dollars) in July 2025 compared with July 2024, led by higher shipments of dairy, beef, and precious metals, statistics show.
