SINGAPORE, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's domestic wholesale sales fell 10.9 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2025, according to data released Wednesday by the Department of Statistics.

Excluding petroleum, domestic wholesale sales registered a smaller decline of 6.2 percent.

On a quarter-on-quarter seasonally adjusted basis, domestic wholesale sales dipped 2.7 percent. Excluding petroleum, however, sales rose 2.7 percent.

Foreign wholesale sales shrank 7.1 percent year-on-year, but edged up 1.1 percent when petroleum was excluded. Compared with the previous quarter, foreign wholesale sales contracted 4.6 percent seasonally adjusted, while sales excluding petroleum posted a modest 0.8 percent increase.

The department noted that wholesale trade remains Singapore's largest services sector.
