ISTANBUL, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Turkish authorities seized 7,896,000 narcotic pills and 63 kg of raw drug materials on Tuesday, according to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.
Yerlikaya said on the social media platform X that the anti-drug operation targeted suspects involved in drug production in Istanbul.
In another operation conducted earlier in the day, police seized 207 kg of methamphetamine and arrested two suspects in Istanbul, marking one of the country's largest drug seizures in recent years.
Turkish authorities have stepped up efforts against drug trafficking in recent years with a series of coordinated raids targeting organized networks. ■
