VILNIUS, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Lithuania Post said Wednesday it will suspend shipments to the United States starting Aug. 21, citing uncertainty over upcoming U.S. customs changes.
The move comes ahead of Aug. 29, when Washington will abolish its de minimis exemption that currently allows duty-free imports of goods worth up to 800 U.S. dollars.
The company said the suspension aims to avoid delays and disruptions, as U.S. authorities have not yet clarified how duties will be collected or what data will be required.
Estonia's Omniva, a postal services and logistics company with an extensive network of parcel terminals in the Baltic region, also announced it would suspend shipments to the U.S. from Wednesday due to new customs duties imposed by the U.S., according to the Baltic News Service. ■
