VIENTIANE, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Officials from Laos and members of the Asian Productivity Organization gathered in Laos to discuss enhancing access to finance for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to support technological upgrading and resource efficiency.

The workshop was held in Lao capital Vientiane from Tuesday to Friday, bringing together scholars and industry experts to share insights, strategies, and policy recommendations to support MSMEs, Lao Economic Daily reported on Wednesday.

The event aims to explore new financial policies and frameworks that will make it easier for MSMEs to secure funding for modern technology adoption. Upgrading machinery and production methods is seen as essential to improving product quality, reducing costs, and boosting international competitiveness.

During the event, participants will exchange experiences and best practices, with key discussions focusing on how innovation and technology can drive productivity and sustainability in the MSME sector, as well as on strengthening partnerships between MSMEs and financial institutions.

For Laos, the meeting also serves as a valuable platform to expand knowledge, foster international cooperation, and promote access to capital and new technologies. These efforts are expected to help build a more resilient, efficient, and competitive MSME sector for the future.
