ISLAMABAD, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan recorded a current account deficit of 254 million U.S. dollars in July 2025, following a surplus of 328 million dollars in June, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said Tuesday.
The deficit compared with a shortfall of 350 million dollars in July 2024, according to the central bank's balance of payments data.
In July 2025, exports of goods stood at 2.7 billion dollars while imports reached 5.4 billion dollars, resulting in a trade deficit of 2.7 billion dollars.
Exports of services were recorded at 745 million dollars against imports of 871 million dollars. Workers' remittances amounted to 3.2 billion dollars during the month.
Pakistan closed the fiscal year 2024-25 with a current account surplus of 2.1 billion dollars, its first in 14 years, supported mainly by strong workers' remittances totaling 38.3 billion dollars. ■
