COLOMBO, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed and about 22 others injured when two buses collided in Monaragala in Sri Lanka's Uva Province on Saturday morning, police said.
The victim was the 32-year-old driver of one of the buses, according to police. The injured were admitted to a regional hospital for treatment.
Road accidents are common in Sri Lanka. Nearly 2,000 people have died due to traffic accidents in the first half of 2025, official data showed. ■
