LONDON, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- A man accused of intentionally driving into a crowd of football fans during Liverpool F.C.'s Premier League victory parade has been charged with 24 new offences, local media reported on Thursday.
More than 130 people were injured in the incident in May.
Paul Doyle, 53, from West Derby, Liverpool, faced seven charges at his first court hearing. The latest charges comprise 23 counts of assault and one of affray.
The case was adjourned to September 4, when Doyle is expected to enter pleas.
According to the police, the suspect managed to evade a police cordon at the parade by tailing an ambulance through a road closure onto the site. The vehicle then ploughed into a crowd in Liverpool city center, where thousands had gathered to celebrate. ■
