MACAO, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau issued a black rainstorm warning signal on Thursday afternoon as heavy rainfall caused flooding in low-lying areas and road closures in multiple districts.

According to the bureau, under heavy rainfall, the highest one-hour accumulated rainfall has reached nearly 110 mm in some areas of Macao's Taipa and Coloane.

The SAR's Education and Youth Development Bureau announced the suspension of afternoon classes for primary, secondary, kindergarten, and special education schools. The Civil Protection Operations Center urged residents and tourists to stay indoors in safe locations, remain alert to rain-related hazards, and take precautionary measures.

The rain was expected to ease. Macao's rainstorm warning system is divided into three levels: yellow, red, and black.
