DHAKA, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's trade deficit in the 2024-25 fiscal year from July 2024 to June 2025 dipped by more than nine percent to 20.39 billion U.S. dollars year-on-year, according to the latest data from the Bangladesh Bank.

The central bank's data revealed that the country's import payment was 64.35 billion dollars, up 1.8 percent, in the 2024-25 fiscal year, while earnings from exports stood at 43.96 billion dollars, up 7.7 percent, during the same period.

Meanwhile, growth in remittances helped Bangladesh cushion the impact of the trade deficit.

Bangladesh remittances hit an all-time high of over 30 billion dollars in the fiscal year 2024-25, providing some breathing space amid the forex crunch.
