SINGAPORE, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's Traffic Police said Sunday that over 118,000 speeding violations were recorded nationwide in the first half of 2025, a 45.5 percent increase from the more than 81,000 cases in the same period last year.

According to local media, speeding offenses had been declining since 2020 but began surging again in 2024, when over 201,000 cases were logged, up 72.9 percent from more than 116,400 in 2023.

To address the trend, the police will activate the speed enforcement function on more of the country's red-light cameras.
