MANILA, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Philippines' manufacturing output grew at a slower pace in June 2025, with the value of production index (VaPI) rising by 1.8 percent year-on-year, down from 3.1 percent in May, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said Thursday.

In June 2024, the VaPI yearly growth rose by 3.6 percent.

The volume of production index (VoPI) also eased to a 2.2 percent increase from 3.4 percent in the previous month. In June 2024, the VoPI for manufacturing registered an annual increment of 3.8 percent.

The PSA attributed the deceleration mainly to steeper annual declines in the manufacture of basic metals, coke and refined petroleum products, and chemicals. The manufacture of basic metals alone contributed over 30 percent to the VaPI slowdown.

Despite the overall easing, 14 of the 22 industry divisions posted annual increases in both VaPI and VoPI. The top contributors to growth were food products, transport equipment, and computer, electronic, and optical products.
