TEHRAN, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday highlighted the necessity to stop Israeli "crimes" in Gaza through cooperation among Muslim states, according to a statement issued by the Iranian president's office.
The two leaders discussed the latest regional developments and bilateral relations in a phone conversation.
Pezeshkian called for collective efforts among Muslim states to prevent the continuation of the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, stressing that the disasters in Gaza caused by Israel's actions were unacceptable.
He expressed hopes that Muslim states, through their active diplomacy and diplomatic pressures, would prevent the continuation of Israeli "crimes" in Gaza.
Shifting to bilateral ties, he called for the promotion of cooperation and interactions between Iran and Malaysia in all areas of common interest.
The Malaysian premier, for his part, condemned Israel's "crimes" in Gaza, noting that the Malaysian government had issued a strong statement against Israeli "crimes" in Gaza.
Anwar said his country was making extensive diplomatic efforts to stop the "genocide" in Gaza, hoping that "we would be able to stop these crimes through cooperation with other Muslim countries."
On bilateral relations, he said Malaysia would make efforts to enhance interactions with Iran in all areas. ■
