KABUL, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Two people have been confirmed dead as a flash flood swept through Khost city, the provincial capital of eastern Afghanistan's Khost province, on Tuesday, provincial government spokesman Mustaghfir Gurbaz said Wednesday.
Khost city and its vicinity experienced heavy rains, hailstorms and flash floods on Tuesday afternoon, the official said, adding so far, two members of a family, including a child, have been confirmed dead.
Many houses and farmlands have also been damaged due to the natural disaster, the official said.
Some Afghan provinces are expected to see more rain on Wednesday, according to the country's meteorological department. ■
