JAKARTA, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's electricity consumption rose 4.36 percent year on year to 149.11 terawatt hours (TWh) in the first half of 2025, lifting state utility PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara's (PLN) revenue by 7.57 percent, its President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said Wednesday.
He said the higher demand pushed PLN's January-June revenue up 32.8 percent from a year earlier to 6.64 trillion rupiahs (about 405.9 million U.S. dollars).
"We have achieved solid performance, which also reflects the government's success in maintaining economic stability, as seen in the rising electricity consumption," Prasodjo said in a statement.
He attributed the growth to strong government support, despite geopolitical tensions and global economic uncertainty. Household consumption was the main driver, growing 5.13 percent to 67.14 TWh in the first semester of 2025.
Indonesia's economy grew 4.87 percent in the first quarter and 5.12 percent in the second quarter. ■
