MANILA, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- The Philippines' unemployment rate in June 2025 eased to 3.7 percent, down from 3.9 percent in May 2025, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said on Wednesday.

PSA Assistant Secretary Divina Gracia Del Prado announced at a press conference that an estimated 1.95 million Filipinos were out of work in June, lower than the 2.03 million jobless Filipinos in May.

In June 2024, Del Prado reported that the unemployment rate stood at 3.1 percent, with an estimated 1.62 million Filipinos jobless.

Department of Economy, Planning, and Development Secretary Arsenio Balisacan noted that youth unemployment in June 2025 grew to 9.4 percent from 8.6 percent.

"We remain cautious due to the slight uptick in unemployment, particularly among the youth," Balisacan stated.

"To address this, we are committed to enhancing workforce competitiveness by aligning education and training systems with industry needs and accelerating interventions to improve school-to-work transitions and youth employability," added Balisacan.
