KABUL, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Rainstorm and flash floods claimed the lives of two children and destroyed residential houses and farmlands in the eastern Afghanistan Kunar province on Tuesday night, according to the Natural Disaster Management Authority Wednesday.
The downpour, which triggered flash floods in parts of Kunar province, left two children dead in Dangam district, and several houses, farmlands, bridges and water canals have been destroyed or badly damaged.
Surveying teams have been dispatched to the flood-affected areas to assess the situation. ■
