SEOUL, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's imported car sales logged a double-digit growth in July 2025 due to robust demand for U.S. electric vehicles and German luxury models, industry data showed Tuesday.

The number of imported vehicles sold here jumped 23.3 percent from a year earlier to 27,090 in July, according to the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association.

For the first seven months of this year, 165,210 foreign vehicles were sold domestically, up 11.9 percent compared to the same period of last year.

Tesla ranked first in terms of automotive sales here among foreign companies by selling 7,357 units last month.

BMW came next with the sale of 6,490 units, followed by Mercedes-Benz with 4,472 units, Lexus with 1,369 units, Audi with 1,259 units, Volvo with 1,015 units and Porsche with 1,014 units.

The number of European models sold here was 16,418 last month, taking up 60.6 percent of the total. U.S., Japanese and Chinese brands recorded the market shares of 29.9 percent, 8.5 percent and 1.1 percent each.
