KABUL, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- A total of 1,430 ancient artifacts uncovered at the Mes Aynak archaeological site in eastern Logar province have been transferred to the Archaeology Department of the Ministry of Information and Culture, the Afghan ministry said in a statement on Monday.
"The purpose of this transfer is to initiate the conservation process, including cleaning, restoration, preservation, and proper documentation, before the artifacts' permanent display at the National Museum of Afghanistan," said Sayed Zabihullah Sadat, general director of the department.
The historical monuments include a diverse range of items crafted from pottery, stone, metal, glass, bone, and wood, said the statement, adding that the pieces feature copper coins from the Kushan and Sassanid eras.
These artifacts, dating back over 5,000 years, embody the history and lived experiences of past civilizations, offering valuable insights into the cultural and societal developments of our ancestors, it said. ■
