BEIRUT, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- A Hezbollah member was killed and four others injured on Monday in an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese sources.
The Public Health Emergency Operations Center, affiliated with the Ministry of Public Health, said that the drone strike on the town of Khiam "resulted in the killing of one individual and injuries to four civilians."
A Lebanese security source told Xinhua that the dead was "a Hezbollah member named Ali Suleiman Abu Abbas."
Meanwhile, the official National News Agency reported that "two hostile drones targeted a parked excavator with two bombs in the Al-Fuwarah neighborhood of the village of Yaroun in the Bint Jbeil district."
Since Nov. 27, 2024, a ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States and France has been in effect between Hezbollah and Israel, putting an end to clashes that had erupted in the wake of the war in Gaza.
Despite the agreement, the Israeli army occasionally carries out strikes in Lebanon, claiming they are meant to eliminate "threats" posed by Hezbollah. ■
