THE HAGUE, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian winger Igor Paixao has completed a move from Dutch club Feyenoord to French side Olympique de Marseille, both clubs announced on Friday.
While the transfer fee remains undisclosed, Dutch and French media reported that it exceeds 30 million euros (34.8 million U.S. dollars). The 25-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the French club until 2030.
Paixao joined Feyenoord from Brazilian club Coritiba in 2022 and became a key figure in the squad. He played a pivotal role in Feyenoord's Eredivisie title win in 2023 and helped the team secure both the Dutch Super Cup and the Dutch Cup in the 2023-24 season.
Paixao is the second signing of Olympique de Marseille in two days, as the French club announced Thursday the return of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
For Feyenoord, the departure of Paixao means another loss of its key players, after defender David Hancko's move to Atletico Madrid last week. ■
