LIMA, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Peru's national men's football team will meet Russia and Chile in November friendlies, the president of the Peruvian football federation said on Friday.
"We have two friendlies in Russia, against the Russian national team and Chile," Agustin Lozano told a news conference in which he also introduced Peru's new general director of football, Jean Ferrari.
The clash with Russia will be played on November 12 in Saint Petersburg and will be followed by a duel with Chile in Sochi six days later.
Lozano also said the federation was also close to confirming friendlies for FIFA's international window in October.
Peru is currently ninth in the 10-team South American qualifiers for next year's World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
The Blanquirroja needs to win its last two qualifiers against Uruguay and Paraguay next month - while relying on a highly unlikely combination of other results - to have any chance of claiming a playoff spot. ■
