HANOI, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Torrential rains triggered flash floods and landslides in northern Vietnam's Dien Bien province, leaving two people dead and two others missing, the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority reported Friday.
Heavy rainfall from Thursday night through early Friday morning in Tia Dinh Commune of Dien Bien province caused houses to collapse, with two people buried and two others confirmed dead.
Authorities also reported damage to at least 25 homes in the affected areas, local newspaper Tuoi Tre reported.
Search and rescue efforts are ongoing across the region, though landslides have blocked access to some sites, complicating emergency response operations. ■
