BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Fifty-one families affected by recent flood incidents have received financial assistance from Brunei's Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, local media reported on Friday.

The assistance aims to ease the families' hardship and reflects the Brunei government's care and concern for its people, according to the report.
Brunei is the least populous country in the Asian region, with a population of 346,500 citizens and 26,300 permanent residents in 2024. The country is rich in oil and natural gas resources and enjoys a high per capita income as well as a well-developed social welfare system. ■
