HANOI, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City will add 443 electric buses to its public transportation system starting in August as part of efforts to reduce environmental pollution, local media VNExpress reported Thursday.
With the new addition, the city will have 613 electric buses. Combined with around 500 compressed natural gas buses, nearly 48 percent of the city's fleet will be environmentally friendly, the report said.
The city is also implementing a vehicle emissions control plan, aiming to transition all buses to clean energy by 2030, while providing incentives for individuals and businesses to switch from gasoline to electric vehicles. ■
