892 killed, 2,478 injured in traffic accidents across Myanmar in H1 of 2025

YANGON, July 29 (Xinhua) -- A total of 892 people were killed and 2,478 people injured in 1,692 road accidents in Myanmar in the first half of 2025, according to the Road Transport Administration Department (RTAD) on Tuesday.

The figures recorded between January and June this year were down compared to 1,148 deaths and 3,132 injuries in 2,163 traffic accidents reported in the same period of 2024, the RTAD's figures showed.

During the six-month period this year, Yangon region reported the highest number of deaths from road accidents at 178, followed by Shan state with 126 deaths and Ayeyarwady region with 123, the RTAD data showed.

In 2024, a total of 2,011 people were killed and 5,576 others injured in road accidents across the country, official data showed.
