KABUL, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock announced on Monday that it had implemented 154 different projects across the country during the past year.
The ministry launched the projects focused on agriculture, livestock and irrigation in collaboration with 118 partner organizations, at a total cost of 192 million U.S. dollars, said Mawlawi Sadr Azam Osmani, deputy minister of agriculture and livestock at the ministry, at a government accountability program.
According to Osmani, through the implementation of these projects, job opportunities have been created for about 150,000 residents, and the living conditions of thousands of people have improved.
The Afghan interim government plans to launch more agricultural, development, welfare, and infrastructure projects across the war-ravaged country to tackle economic challenges and create job opportunities. ■
