BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Brunei is committed to fostering tourism that is environmentally responsible, community-driven and aligned with principles of sustainability, the Tourism Development Department under the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism said on Monday.
The department held a two-day capacity building workshop recently which was attended by 30 participants comprising local tourism service providers, travel agents and tour guides.
Salinah Haji Mohd Salleh, acting director of Tourism Development Department, emphasized the importance of developing a tourism sector that is not only economically viable but also inclusive and environmentally sustainable.
She said that in recent years, nature tourism has emerged as more than a travel trend.
It is a growing movement reflecting shared responsibility to protect the natural environment while creating meaningful visitor experiences, she added. ■
