JERUSALEM, July 25 (Xinhua) -- The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that its air force successfully intercepted a missile fired from Yemen toward Israel on Friday evening.
Israel's emergency service, Magen David Adom, said there were no reports of hits or casualties.
Sirens sounded in several places in southeastern Israel, including the Dead Sea region and the city of Arad in the Judean desert after the IDF detected a launch from Yemen.
The last round of missiles fired from Yemen's Houthi forces occurred on Tuesday and was also intercepted.
The Houthi group, which controls much of northern Yemen, has been launching ballistic missiles and drones toward Israel since November 2023 to show solidarity with Palestinians and pressure Israel to end its war and blockade on Gaza. ■
