NEW DELHI, July 26 (Xinhua) -- One woman died and 21 others were injured, some of them seriously, when nearly 20 vehicles crashed one after the other, causing a major pile up of vehicles leading to a long traffic jam on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway in India's southwestern state of Maharashtra, on Saturday.
According to local police, a heavy commercial vehicle suffered a brake failure while running at a very high speed and crashed into a queue of vehicles, triggering a chain-reaction collision involving nearly 20 vehicles.
The nearly Mumbai-Pune Expressway is one of India's best highways connecting the financial capital Mumbai with the Pune city. ■
