LUSAKA, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Zambia will receive about 184 million U.S. dollars from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) after the global lender concluded the fifth review of the country's economy under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) supported program.
The IMF said in a statement released on Friday that it is happy with how the Zambian government is managing the economy.
The statement noted that Zambia is doing well in meeting most of its economic targets by showing, among other things, good financial discipline and spending in key sectors.
While acknowledging that Zambia's debt is sustainable, the IMF warned that the country still remains at high risk of overall and external debt distress.
According to the statement, the latest disbursement brings the total amount disbursed to Zambia under the IMF program facility to 1.55 billion dollars since the program was approved on Aug. 31, 2022. ■
