KABUL, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan has exported 50 tons of fish feed from northern Balkh province to Tajikistan for the first time, a move that underscores the country's growing regional trade ambitions, the state-owned Bakhtar News Agency reported on Saturday.

"The batch of fish feed was transported to the Tajik market following quality assurance and standardized processing," Bakhtar quoted Hafiz Amir Mohammad Muttaqi, provincial head of the Industry and Commerce Department, as saying.

This is a significant step toward diversifying Afghanistan's export portfolio and expanding its presence in regional markets, said Muttaqi.

Earlier this month, a large consignment of washing products was exported from Balkh Province to the United Kingdom.

By facilitating private sector growth and enabling access to regional markets, the Afghan interim government has played a pivotal role in expanding exports, strengthening the national economy and enhancing the country's trade footprint across borders.
