NEW DELHI, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Amid escalating tensions between Thailand and Cambodia over a long-standing border dispute, the Indian Embassy in Thailand on Friday issued a travel advisory for Indian nationals, urging them to avoid travel to seven provinces in the country.
The advisory has been issued in the wake of the deadly clashes between Thai and Cambodian forces on Thursday.
"In view of the situation near Thailand-Cambodia border, all Indian travelers to Thailand are advised to check updates from Thai official sources, including Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Newsroom," reads a brief statement posted on the social media account of the Indian Embassy in Thailand.
The embassy has put a list released by TAT Newsroom of several places in the seven provinces mentioned not recommended for visiting.
The TAT noted that several tourist attractions in these areas are affected by the unrest, and visitors should refrain from travelling to the places until further notice.
Meanwhile, Indian citizens in Thailand are advised to remain vigilant, follow updates from local authorities, and avoid affected areas until the situation stabilizes. ■
