JAKARTA, July 24 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian government plans to allocate 630 billion rupiah (around 38.69 million U.S. dollars) to build 63 suspension bridges in 2026 to promote equitable development and improve connectivity between villages and remote areas and economic centers, the Ministry of Public Works said on Thursday.

"Suspension bridges offer an accessibility solution for communities, especially those living in remote areas with challenging geographic conditions," said Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo.

He added that the bridges are also expected to speed up daily activities, particularly economic, educational, and public service-related activities.

This year, the ministry aims to complete the construction of 50 suspension bridges, including eight in South Sulawesi.
