TEHRAN, July 23 (Xinhua) -- Two border guards were killed and another one injured in an attack by members of a "hostile and counter-revolutionary" group on a border outpost in Iran's western province of Kurdestan, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.
The attack was carried out on a border outpost in Baneh County on Tuesday night when the border guards were on a patrol mission, Faraj Rostami, the province's border guards' commander, said on Wednesday.
He identified the victims, who were shot during the attack by the assailants, as Sajjad Adib and Ali Bodagh.
The commander added that the "hostile" group's members sought to enter the country but were forced to retreat after facing the Iranian border guards' heavy fire. ■
