TUNIS, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian President Kais Saied strongly condemned the ongoing violence in the Gaza Strip during a meeting here on Tuesday with Massad Boulos, U.S. senior adviser for Africa and presidential adviser on Arab and Middle Eastern affairs.

Saied described the "atrocities" committed against the Palestinian people as "absolutely unacceptable" and presented a collection of photographs documenting what he called "crimes" committed by Israel, particularly those targeting children and infants in Gaza, according to a presidential statement.

He pointed to the severe hunger faced by civilians as a result of the ongoing blockade of humanitarian aid, calling the situation a "crime against humanity."

"These images of suffering children are undeniable proof of the brutality and criminality of the occupation," Saied said.

He stressed that the issue extends beyond Gaza, reaffirming that all of Palestine belongs to the Palestinian people and reiterating the need for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Beyond the Palestinian cause, the meeting also addressed the fight against terrorism and the overall situation in the Arab region.

Saied underscored that the internal affairs of each Arab nation must be resolved by its people, without foreign interference under any pretext.

In a later meeting with Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti, Boulos reaffirmed the U.S. government's commitment to maintaining close consultation and cooperation with Tunisia, both bilaterally and multilaterally, to further strengthen ties between the two countries.
