KABUL, July 23 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan interim government's national procurement commission has approved six new development projects worth 828 million afghani (about 12 million U.S. dollars), according to an official statement released Tuesday.
The decision was made during a meeting of the commission, chaired by Acting Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar. A total of 28 proposed projects were reviewed during the session, out of which six were ratified.
According to the statement, the approved projects include the reconstruction of several internal roads in the capital Kabul and the completion of pending electricity supply and distribution works across various provinces.
The government expects these projects to generate employment opportunities for hundreds of thousands of residents, contributing to both economic growth and infrastructure development in the war-damaged country. ■
