BEIRUT, July 21 (Xinhua) -- A member of the Lebanese Hezbollah group was killed Monday in an Israeli airstrike targeting a motorcycle in a border town in southern Lebanon, according to official and security sources in Lebanon.

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that "a hostile drone" targeted a motorcycle in the town of al-Tiri in the southern border region, killing the motorcycle's driver.

A Lebanese security source told Xinhua that the person killed was a Hezbollah member named Mohammad Fadi Shaaito, from the same town.

Hezbollah mourned Shaaito in a statement, saying he "was martyred on the path to Jerusalem," without providing further details.

A ceasefire agreement between Hezbollah and Israel, brokered by U.S. and French, has been in place since late November last year, putting an end to hostilities between the two triggered by the war in Gaza.

Despite the agreement, the Israeli army occasionally carries out strikes in Lebanon, claiming to target Hezbollah "threats," and maintains its presence at five key points along the Lebanese border area.
