KABUL, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Police in conjunction with other security organs have discovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition, including during operations in northern Afghanistan's Samangan province, according to a statement of the provincial police office on Tuesday.
The weaponry, which includes an anti-aircraft gun, a piece of 82 mm caliber anti-tank gun, a mortar weapon and hundreds of projectiles and bullets, has been collected from illegal armed men in the provincial capital Aybak city, the statement noted,
In similar operations, the security forces discovered 13,000 bullets of Kalashnikovs in the Spin Boldak town of the southern Kandahar province and arrested an alleged smuggler last week. ■
