KATHMANDU, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Pledged foreign direct investment (FDI) in Nepal increased over 5 percent year-on-year in the just-concluded 2024-25 fiscal year, the Department of Industry said on Thursday.
The committed amounts stood at 64.96 million Nepali rupees (472.85 million U.S. dollars) in the 2024-25 fiscal year ending on Wednesday, as against 61.78 million rupees (449.7 million dollars) in the 2023-24 fiscal year, the department said in a report.
The pledges were intended for 840 projects, which were expected to create 19,536 jobs, the report said.
It noted that the information and communication technology sector drew the most of the committed investments, followed by the tourism and services sectors. ■
