KATHMANDU, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Nepal collected 1.178 trillion Nepali rupees (about 8.57 billion U.S. dollars) in revenue in the 2024-25 fiscal year that ended on Wednesday, up 11.33 percent over 2023-24, the Ministry of Finance said on Thursday.
The revenue target for 2024-25 was 1.419 trillion rupees as stated in the annual budget, but the government revised it to 1.286 trillion rupees during the mid-term review due to no prospect of achieving the target.
"The government achieved 91.6 percent of the revised revenue target," Uttar Kumar Khatri, head of the revenue management division at the ministry, was quoted as saying in a statement.
The revenue collection was encouraging despite challenges posed by disasters and international circumstances, Khatri said.
Nepal expects to garner 1.315 trillion rupees in revenue in 2025-26, which began on Thursday. (1 Nepali rupee equals 0.0073 U.S. dollar) ■
